Wonky Creature Feature Presents: Squshies

Happy February, everyone!
Did everyone in colder climates survive the surplus of snow that was dumped on everyone in the past week?
I have a feeling somewhere there very cold and grumpy groundhog.
But fret not, Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and spring is soon to follow.
Until then, I'll be dreaming of sunny beaches, picnics, and booty shorts.

This week I interviewed the silly, sassy, and talented Danielle of Squishes.!

First off, tell me a little about yourself

Hi, my name is Danielle and I'm one half of team Squshies. The other half is my husband Jason. We live in Southern California with our cat Hazel. We both studied animation in school and always have way too many projects we're trying to work on.

I love animals of all kinds but I'm definitely a cat person. I love to take trips to the zoo. When I'm not working on Squshie things I like to read, do puzzles, play board games, eat dessert and watch cartoons.

What is it that you do?

We make playful felt animal art and decor.

Originally we just made animal ornaments but we've since expanded to hoop art, needle felt sculptures and some framed felt pieces. Recently we've been testing out things like prints and DIY patterns. We've always got more ideas than we have time for so we're constantly experimenting and trying new things.

Which of your creations can you relate to the most?

Otis the Cake Troll for sure.

He came about because someone made a joke at dinner once about how I have an inner cake troll. So I named him Otis and made him into Squshie.

What would you like to see this year bring to your business?

World domination!

Seriously though we just want to see the Squshies continue to grow and spread happiness. We really hope this year to develop some of the characters more and bring their stories to life. This year is all about story for us.

If you could be any mythological creature, what would it be, and why?

If I could be any mythological creature...hmm...that's a tough one. My initial thought is a gryphon because they're awesome and my favorite. I think I'm going to go with a dragon though. I'd be gigantic and have scales so no one would mess with me. I could still fly like a gryphon, but I could also breath fire which would be awesome. Toasted marshmallows all the time!
