Hey everyone! Did those of you on the east coast survive the "Snowpocalypse"? Have you successfully dig yourself out of the cold, wet, horrible nonsense that is now covering everything as far as the eye can see?
If you can't tell, I'm a little bitter. The snow literally ruined my birthday and made it so all I could do yesterday was sulk around the house and make myself a one person, subpar, vegan birthday cake.
/sheds a tear
But all is not lost! A make-up birthday has been planned for this coming Saturday, so I will be sure to share my day of birth adventures with all y'all then!
Sob story aside, I wanted to keep the mood light today by interviewing one of my personal favorite indie artists, Shawna of Scrawny Girl. If her colorful, adorable designs don't help thaw your heart out, I don't know what will!
Tell me a little about yourself.
My name is Shawna, and I'm a quirky Hello Kitty loving coffee addict. I have a hard time remembering how old I am. I treasure all things handmade, crafty + vintage. I'm currently dreaming big in Lubbock, Texas with my bass playing husband, daughter Amelia + pup Loki.
|What she failed to mention is her fabulous hair and awesome fashion sense.|
And what is it that you do?
I am the creator behind Scrawny Girl, which is my outlet for spreading kawaii vibes with wearable art, inspirational prints + stickers. I'm pretty much taking over the world and making it cute + spreading merriment with art.
Which of your pieces can you relate to the most?
My Coffee Lover Print (which I'm currently sold out of), but I'm definitely not a morning person + always thinking of coffee. Actually, I tend to draw coffee into most of my art.....I might have a problem. >_<
|I have one of these prints! And I absolutely adore it.|
What would you like to see 2015 bring to your business?
Growth, Community + an aesthetic that screams Scrawny Girl. Also, world domination.
And lastly, if your life were a book, which one would it be?
2. If my life was a book it would be "Confessions of a Shopaholic". I'm actually a lot better than I used to be, but I still have an addiction to buying handmade + cute things.
Be sure to check Shawna out on the web, she is notorious for posting a plethora of adorable awesomeness!
